The Punk Lotus Cabinet

This beautiful commission, hand painted on walnut and oak,  is one of my favourite pieces.  The design for this stunning cabinet was inspired by the various shapes and colour tones of the space where the piece resides. Practical and useful  The punk Lotus Cabinet is also a work of art in its own right.

Lumia

'Lumia' was created for the Borders Exhibition Croydon London 2014 in commemoration of the 100 years since the outbreak of the first World War. Asked to represent Spain's position during that conflict I created a painting portraying Spain as a hardworking vulnerable young woman, arrested from her personal development, to be handled like a puppet by the ruling elite in any which way they can. On the outbreak of war Spain was one of the poorest nations in Europe. At its end she was the richest. Lumia means many things in many languages; some say it means light, some say snow. In Spain it can mean prostitute. Perhaps that's the real position Spain found herself in during that war?

Boat Boy

I finished this beautiful fresh and bright portrait of a little boy in March this year. Painted from a photo taken by his grandfather, who commissioned this painting, the moment captures the first time the little boy saw sea lions, on the lake at Longleat in Wiltshire England.

Lucia Haines

I've just finished this lovely portrait of a little girl. Painted from a photo of her sitting at the back of a 4x4 on a warm summer day last year. I love the sweet yet confident look in her eyes.

MILLIE

Oh beautiful Millie! This large painting is to celebrate this adorable little puppy coming into my customer's life. Painted from photos Millie sits with her favourite toy; a stork made by her owner's children Christmas just passed.

Xemx

Xemx is currently being designed. Made from steel, blown glass & integral lighting, this beautiful and astonishing creation will celebrate the sun. Xemx means sunshine in Maltese and this sphere shaped sculpture, glittering at nearly 2 metres diameter, will look as vibrant as one. The beautiful hand blown glass pieces above, called tendrils, are being made for me by talented glass artist Sonja Klingler, and 380 of those gorgeous Dartington crystal tendrils will adorn the finished sculpture. Images and updates to follow.

What a wonderful project. Thank you to Peter Arnall of Peter Arnall Welding in Corsham and Sonja Klingler of Sonja Klingler Glass, Frome for being the best team I could wish for creating this beautiful and magnificent work of art. XXX

Xemx sits beautifully and perfectly in its new setting. Many thanks to Mark Laurenti for his great photos.

create50.com

This composition is a bit gruesome. Invited to create an image for the create50.com/twisted team, this sketch in oil pastels on board, explores the imagery from Lewis Rice's The Weasel.

Nellie!

What a wonderful project and a sad one. Nellie passed away tragically earlier this year. A very special chuck, she was different than all the other chickens and lived with my customers in their house. She was gentle and funny, protective and clever and as a memorial to her I was commissioned to create a painting that celebrated her beauty. I hope I have done just that, by capturing her likeness and character and surrounding her with colour and light.

Foxy, Hoggy & Boo!

The Story of Foxy, Hoggy and Boo

ChokkaBlox and ChokkaBook creator Debora Milton commissioned me to create images for her new and exciting early learning music franchise. ChokkaBlox consists, amongst other things, of 3 large fun cubes covered with images like big colourful dice for children to throw; and then to dance and sing to the corresponding songs. Every image shows something fun to do, like playing Pirates, or eating, or making music or exploring outside...and to make it even more fun all the activities are seen and played out by a special gang of friends. A shy but brave fox, a small and gregarious hedgehog and a not so bright but very kind badger. Our friends take us joyfully through all the fun activities and we hope you love them as  much as we do. We also want to make everyone aware of how special these kinds of animals are in our landscape, and how endangered they are and want to do what we can to protect them. XXX

Murmuration Laurenti

'Murmuration Laurenti' is currently under construction. A Fabulous and dynamic sculpture made from zip ties with integral fibre optic lighting; celebrates the extraordinary display of bird murmurations, like the example above, as well as the loving family commissioning its creation. The piece completion date is due for July 2016. Images and updates will follow soon. mood board below

Murmuration is complete. I'd like to thank the great team who helped in its creation; Peter Fagan and his team at Starscape, cabletiesuk.co.uk, Essentra, gocableties.co.uk, Jackie and Andy Sisson, Al and Ed, Pat Mullan and my mum! xxxxx

Not only is Murmuration an avant garde portrait of a family, its also great for discos and parties!

Mary Mollaghan

Creating Mary Mollaghan was great fun. Starting with a little photo and then exploring lots of ideas to create this exciting commission, I was asked to particularly look at French designer Bernard Villemot and most importantly to celebrate Mary's coveted green Jimmy Choos! Painted on board to fit my customers existing frame, I loved this project.

Mabel

This large painting will be of a young girl and her two greyhounds. Currently I'm drafting the image onto it's canvas and will add images as I make progress...
